Las casas del Ferrocarril
For Asko Schönberg Ensemble
ca. 8'
Las casas del ferrocarril was an investigation of opposites. Extremes in register: high and low in dynamics: loud and soft in texture: dense, subtle, rough, disperse, silence.
The piece was inspired from a rough neighbourhood in Bogotá called Las casas del ferrocarril (the houses from the railways) also known as “El cinturon de pobreza” (poverty belt) I was chocked by the extremes of hierarchies in societies. As a result, I was looking for beauty in extremes and diversity in timbre, was in search of unifications.
